Bruce received his Level III coaching certification under Eddie O'Sullivan. He started playing with Ithaca Wolves in 1990 and started coaching the Cornell University Women in 1995. He coached Cornell to 7 straight undefeated seasons in New York State league play from 1996-2002 and took Cornell to Nationals in 2000. He retired as head coach in 2002 and moved to Cornell Director of Rugby Operations. He also coached the NYS Central Women's 7'S team to 5 straight gold medals in the Empire State Games.
